I’ve always had an interest in math and problem solving, and really enjoyed my business analytics and financial modeling courses in college. I especially liked learning about quantitative reasoning and statistics-based analysis in Excel. SIG was a natural fit.
After meeting SIG employees at Bucknell’s on-campus Career Expo and then later through the interview process, I discovered that my skill sets and interests were well-aligned with SIG as an organization. SIG also has a strong sense of community among its employees, which I noticed during the interview process. This was something I valued about my college experience and knew I wanted in an internship.
SIG has a very laid-back culture despite being a major player in a fast-paced and constantly changing industry. Autonomy, innovation, and open communication are encouraged. There’s always something new to learn, and always someone willing to share their expertise.
The Operations Analyst Internship is a condensed version of the full-time Operations Analyst Program. You get to work with multiple teams throughout the firm and as a result, gain valuable exposure to the core components of SIG’s businesses. Being able to work with various groups and learn about their different functions gave me a comprehensive look into SIG’s day-to-day operations.
One perk that I really enjoyed was the housing provided at the University of Pennsylvania. The housing made the transition to Philly for the summer stress-free, allowed me to meet new people, and encouraged us to participate in social and teambuilding events throughout the summer. I was able to get to know Philadelphia and the other interns at SIG. I really enjoyed the opportunity to meet so many intelligent, driven, and diverse people, both while at work and at SIG social events.
